what is thai yoga massage?
thai yoga massage is an ancient form of therapeutic healing that combines acupressure, energy balancing, stretching and applied asana (yoga postures) to offer a unique and powerful experience of transformation (physically, energetically, and spiritually).
the healing art of thai massage is appropriate for people of all ages and health conditions and can be used for everything from relazation to physical medicine. thai massage is also an ideal companion to other healing modalities like chiropractic care, acupuncture, and even other massage or physical therapies.
is it really a 'massage'?
unlike many forms of "massage," thai yoga bodywork is not a 'rub down' of the muscles. focused primarily on the flow of energy through the body using a system of channels and lines understood and articulated by eastern traditions of subtle anatomy, thai bodywork uses acupressure and stretching to stimulate energetic movement throughout the body. the movement of muscle tissue is secondary to the intentional working along these energetic pathways.
the receiver of a thai massage is fully and comfortably clothed and lying on a massage mat on the floor. the practitioner moves and manipulates the body throughout the session stretching and aiding deep release for the receiver.
also unlike many other forms of massage, the practitioner uses more than his/her hands (including feet, elbows, knees) to help shift energy and clear the body of blockages.
